Real Estate Law
For most people, buying property is the most expensive investment you’ll make in a lifetime. Even so, very few people take the time to read and understand all of the documents they are required to sign. What if the seller will only do an "as is" contract? Are you negotiating for bank owned property? How do you know if the foreclosure was done right?
If you’re a seller, you want to get the best return on your investment. How can you protect yourself? What happens if the buyer presents a contract with a contingency? Does the buyer want you to provide owner financing? What if the buyer won’t close?
If you’re buying or selling property, we can help you understand your options and protect your interests and your investment.
When you’re presented with a stack of loan documents, closing statements, and inspection reports, you need to understand what you’re signing. We can translate the legalese into understandable language so that you know your rights and what to expect.
Restrictive Covenants and Deed Restrictions
I represent homeowners and homeowners’ associations in enforcing and defending deed restrictions and restrictive covenants. Restrictive covenants are usually developed with preservation in mind. In order to preserve the value of the homes throughout the development, the covenants need to be enforced consistently throughout your neighborhood. Do you have questions about the documents for your development? I work with clients to understand their rights and obligations as members of a homeowners’ association board and as residents.
